World TB Day 24 March 2015: Awareness Campaign at school level to raise awareness

South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI)
UCT-based South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative will be launching in partnership with Aeras, a global TB vaccine research group in Worcester on Tuesday 24 March 2015, which is World TB Day. Read the press release.

AERAS Africa Managing Director, Mr Sebastian Gelderbloem and SATVI Chief Operations Officer, Dr Zameer Brey, will be launching the schools campaign which will be implemented at Avian Park Primary, Alfred Stamper, Roodewal Primary and Vusisiwe Secondary School and will reach close to 5 000 children.

The program will focus on signs and symptoms and preventing TB in this area which has a high TB incidence rate. 

The program will be followed by a TB Awareness Drive at the local shopping centre on Friday 27 March  and  a World TB Wellness Expo which will take place Saturday 28 March 2015 in Worcester which will include a Fun Run, Soccer Tournament, Indigenous Games, Health screening and displays by NGO;s and government.
