Registration 2024
Welcome, Postgraduate students to the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Academic registration is compulsory each year as prescribed by the respective curriculum until completion of the degree/ diploma requirements. The Faculty Handbook is the main resource for this information.
Please note the registration commencement dates for postgraduate studies:

Important information for dissertation submissions:
- Students who intend to submit on or before noon Monday, 12 February 2024, do not need to re-register for the dissertation in 2024.
- Students who are required to revise and resubmit their dissertation need to re-register. Rebates are allocated as per the Fees handbook guidelines.

- All first-time registrars are required to complete the abridged MOU.
- Re-registering for the dissertation component in a second or subsequent year does not require you to complete the MOU. Instead, you must complete the online Progress and Planned Activity (PPA) form via the PeopleSoft Student Administration.

How will I know when I can start with my registration?
Please note the following:
- New and Returning PhD and Full research Master’s students: The process will start with a notification to login to PeopleSoft to start working on the online “Progress & Planned Activities” (PPA). The process of checking and approval by the supervisors and Head of Department will all take place online. The process will be finalized with the completion of an online registration task. New PhD and Full research Master’s students. On receipt of a notification to login to PeopleSoft and complete the online “Memorandum of Understanding” (MoU). The process will be finalized with the completion of an online registration task.
- New Master’s (minor dissertation) students: On receipt of a notification to login to PeopleSoft and complete the online “Memorandum of Understanding” (MoU). The process will be finalized with the completion of an online registration task.
- New Master’s (coursework) students: On receipt of a notification to login to PeopleSoft and complete the online process. The process will be finalized with the completion of an online registration task.
- Honours students: On receipt of a notification to login to PeopleSoft and complete the online process. The process will be finalized with the completion of an online registration task.
- PG Diploma: On receipt of a notification to login to PeopleSoft and complete the online process. The process will be finalized with the completion of an online registration task.

What should newly appointed Registrars do?
All new registrars, please APPLY ONLINE at https://applyonline.uct.ac.za and upload the following: MM001 MMed or MM016 MPhil (subspeciality) and then upload the following:
- Official contract letter from the Hospital
- Certified ID or passport
- Certified copy of degree
- HPCSA Registration
Thereafter these documents have been reviewed and verified, you will be updated when you can register online.
All International Registrars should first have credentials verified by ECFMG. Please make use of the Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (EPIC) available on the ECFMG website to create an EPIC account and upload your credentials (qualifications, academic record/transcripts, and medical registration/license) for verification. Once you’re this verification process is completed, you can submit your documents and I will inform you of the next steps.

Proof of registration can be downloaded from PeopleSoft.
What form do I need to complete to add or drop a course?
Download and complete a Change of Curriculum form (ACA09).
What form do I need to complete if I want to cancel my registration?
Download and complete a Change of Curriculum form (ACA08).
What form do I need to complete when I need to apply for a Credit and Exemption?
Download and complete a Change of Curriculum form (ACA36).
