Through the work of the division at these tertiary hospitals, the full spectrum of pathology at the levels of both the developed world and the developing world is experienced.

The division provides a comprehensive ENT service to state patients and to private patients at the University of Cape Town Private Academic Hospital (UCTPAH).

The various subspecialties within the division of Otolaryngology include Head and Neck Oncology, Rhinology and anterior skull base surgery, Otology, Neuro-Otology and lateral skull base surgery and Paediatric Otolaryngology.

More recently the division has expanded to include transorbital surgery, cochlear implantation and paediatric laryngotracheal reconstruction.  The division also runs an active fellowship program within each subspecialty. It boasts a robust academic environment with education and training of registrars and fellows, clinical collaborative research, and achieving impact through innovation.
