  • Call for applications: Master of Public Health Bursary - Empilisweni Centre

    Deadline for submission: Rolling deadline in 2024

    Empilisweni Centre aims to strengthen capacity in clinical services and implementation science in South Africa through training and mentoring emerging researchers focussed on cancer prevention and control.

    The Centre will offer up to two scholarships to support new or enrolled students in the Masters In Public Health (MPH) programme. They seek highly motivated students with public health interests in either cancer control, health systems research, health economics, epidemiology, socio-behavioural and implementation science, to join their interdisciplinary research group. The candidate should have expressed interest in public sector service, health service or implementation research, or related areas.

  • SAMRC: Conference Applications

    The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) seeks applications for funding to host national and international conferences, including summits and symposia. The theme of the conference should be aligned to the vision and mission of the SAMRC. Training events, such as summer schools, with a focus on health research will also be considered. All applications must be submitted at least 6 months prior to a conference.

    Award details 
    Up to R200 000 for international conferences and R100 000 for national conferences.

    Eligibility 

    • Organisations whose core business is conducting medical/health research.
    • The conference must have medical/health research as its central theme and be hosted at a venue in South Africa.
