We are thrilled to announce that the South African Health Review 2018 is now available. The publication can be downloaded from Health Systems Trust’s website, either in its entirety or by individual chapter.  â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹Chapters 1 – 14 of the SAHR 2018 are also available in​ a concise format as part of our Kwik Skwiz series (Volume 5).

 

Key health systems issues explored in the 2018 edition include:

 

The impact o

f the environment on our food choices, as well as  links between geographic proximity to fast food outlets and non-communicable diseases

The “Life Esidimeni” tragedy and its implications for UHC and mental health services  in South Africa

What an overall quality-of-care framework might do to reduce the gap between policy and implementation of quality improvements

Surveillance systems to prevent communicable diseases in light of the recent South African listeriosis outbreak
