This comprehensive course provides theory and practical training in forensic Photography. Participants will gain essential knowledge and skills to effectively photograph and investigate various death scenes. The course covers the operation of DSLR cameras, settings for different lighting conditions, distances, angles, photo altering and photo shopping. 

Participants will be guided through each step of the process, while obtaining expert advice on troubleshooting tips along the way. By the end of the course participants will gain an in-depth understanding of photography techniques and documentation, empowering them to engage with real-world forensic challenges with confidence. 

Who should attend?
Forensic pathology officers; Forensic Practitioners, postgraduate Forensic Science students

Entry requirements: You must be employed as a forensic practitioner or registered as a postgraduate Forensic Science student

Course content

Introduction – Camera/Light.
Understanding exposure and the exposure triangle.
Semi-auto and manual modes.
Understanding crime scene investigation and how to approach a crime scene.

The course will be delivered in person via lectures, practical sessions and interactive Q&A sessions. There is a pre-course preparatory reading component and a post-course online evaluation and assessment.

Participants will:
●    Develop a clear understanding of the operation of a DSLR camera.
●    Learn how to approach a crime scene and perform crime scene photography and investigation.
●    Learn fingerprinting methodology and techniques.
●    Learn to complete an affidavit statement  

This course is one within a series of forensic investigation courses focusing on various aspects of crime  scene investigation.

A digital certificate of completion will be issued to participants who successfully complete the course.
