The Understanding End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and Dialysis short course is essential to improve the clinician’s capacity to deliver individualised quality care to complex patients affected by renal disease.
The course will focus on providing healthcare professionals with the core knowledge and skills required to care for patients affected by chronic kidney disease (CKD), identify manifestations of the disease and manage the complications.
This course was designed and will be presented by the Division of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Cape Town.

Healthcare professionals who:
- Regularly care for ESRD patients or aspire to specialise in renal care

Entry requirements: Valid registration with professional council - South African Nursing Council (SANC)

Module 6: Complications, Intradialytic Alarms & Management
Module 7: Pharmacological Aspects of Haemodialysis
Module 8: Infection Control in Haemodialysis / Peritoneal Dialysis
Module 9: Nutrition in CKD
Learning Outcomes
