This 10-week course aims to help teachers and educators apply UDL principles in their teaching practice and curriculum development and share their experiences and solutions with their peers.
The course is offered using a combination of asynchronous (in your own time without the lecturer's presence) preparatory work and online activities. There will also be live (synchronous) tutorials lectures, and discussions. You will be required to work consistently throughout the duration of the course to complete it successfully.
In every week you will be expected to participate in an online activity about the related topic. Participation in ALL online activities is required.
Entry requirements: Educators (including in-service and pre-service educators) and school management (at school, district and provincial levels) responsible for supporting the education of learners with a diverse range of learning needs including those with disabilities

Week 1: Course orientation
Week 2: Relevance of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to creating inclusive classrooms
Week 3: Introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Week 4: Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and social justice in education – Key policies and theories
Week 5: UDL principles – Multiple means of engagement
Week 6: UDL principles – Multiple means of representation
Week 7: UDL principles – Multiple means of action and expression
Week 8: Incorporating educational technologies and tools within the UDL framework
Week 9: UDL in practice & UDL in Low- and Middle-income Countries (LMICs)
Week 10: Assessment
A digital certificate of completion will be issued to participants who successfully complete the course.
