Are you considering doing a PhD?

This is a 12 week fully online course facilitated by the Children’s Nursing Development Unit (CNDU), in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Cape Town.

The aim of the course is to help students bridge the gap between a Masters' degree and a PhD, if the Masters' degree was a clinical or professional degree with less focus on independent research and academic writing skills. The outcome of this course is that students will have a very clear idea of what the PhD journey looks like as well as have the basic skills to tackle a PhD.

The course consists of 4 modules:

  • Academic reading and writing skills;
  • Support required for a PhD;
  • Technical skills-word processing, storage, presenting and reviewing;
  • Thesis structure.

Each week offers structured learning activities that share resources, promote reflection, enable learning, all designed to contribute to the development of the skills and knowledge required to complete a weekly assignment.

digital certificate of completion will be issued to participants on successful completion of the course.

Registration closing date: Friday 17 May 2024
