This course is intended to provide a general overview of healthcare simulation and the steps involved in planning, implementing and debriefing a simulation activity.
The course is aimed at healthcare providers who are interested in implementing healthcare simulation in to their everyday practise, and serves as an introduction course. Course graduates are able to continue their learning through more advanced online or in-person courses in simulation-based education and debriefing offered at the University of Cape Town.
The course will be offered in four modules. Each module will include pre-recorded, engaging lectures and discussions with experts, as well as reading and reflection tasks. Each week will include a written guide, with suggestions for open access resources for continued learning, allowing learners to explore the module content relative to their prior learning and experience.
Entry requirements: Healthcare students and workers from any discipline. Clinical educators. No experience required
