The University of Cape Town is an approved accreditor for the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) Medical and Dental Professions Board. 

To apply for CPD accreditation you require the following documents:

  • CPD 2A Form
  • a copy of your CPD activity formal programme (please include hours). This form should be completed correctly and signed.
  • for Ethics points, the committee will require a copy of the presenter CV and outline of the Ethics talk

All applications should be addressed to CPDapplication@uct.ac.za with the CPD activity clearly stated in the subject line.

CPD applications are subject to the following fees:

2024 CPD FEE STRUCTURE

Departmental academic annual activities
Small group presentations, meetings, ward rounds, case study discussions, journal clubs, mentoring/supervising

R 1,380.00 per application

Conferences/seminars/workshops/short courses
R 1,380.00 per day of CPD activity

R 2,750.00 maximum
for activities two days or more

Short courses/small meetings: (Less than one day)                  
R 1,380.00 per application

Practitioners’ individual accreditation: i.e., for articles, presenter at overseas meetings, publications etc:       
R 350.00 per application per activity

Please note that ALL service providers will need to submit points for the attendees and speakers of their CPD activity directly to the HPCSA after each activity.

You must include the Accreditor(s) letter with each submission to the Council. The CPD Accreditation Office will provide you with the relevant documents/template to submit your points to Council.
