The Professor Bongani Mayosi Netcare Clinical Scholarship is an integral part of the Physician Partnerships Trust, established through Netcare’s Health Partners for Life Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment initiative. It aims to develop leading professors and academics from previously disadvantaged communities across all branches of medicine — clinicians who will use their world-class knowledge to teach in their respective fields. We invite PhD candidates who are registered medical specialists, and who wish to pursue an academic career as clinician scientists, to apply for the 2026 scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a clinical specialist or subspecialist who has commenced doctoral or postdoctoral studies in South Africa. It will be awarded as an annual grant for up to three years of full time doctoral or postdoctoral research in a chosen field.
