The Division of Physiotherapy has a very active research programme and generally produces at least eight publications a year in peer reviewed journals. The intention is to use the under-graduate projects and the post-graduate projects to support each other and the academic staff research. The major areas of research interest include risk behaviour in adolescents, child development and intervention in children with neurological conditions, epidemiology and intervention in patients with stroke, sports physiotherapy, the use of the ICF as an instrument to monitor patient outcome, the management of chronic pain and the management of cardio-pulmonary conditions in patients with TB and stab wounds.
The division has an Ultra-sound imagining machine and EMG machine and has access to the facilities at the Exercise and Sports Medicine Unit Facilities at the Spo rts Science Institute.
