Doctoral students are registered for the PhD and MD degrees, which are degrees offered by dissertation.  This is a degree by full thesis. Students should hold either a medical or a science qualification.  Students are involved in both basic research as well as applied clinical studies.  PhD degrees are offered in a large range of disciplines and prospective applicants may contact the UCT Division concerned for more information.
