The Transformation Action Group (TAG) and the Advocacy Committees and greater Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, University of Cape Town stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement and, conscious that racism and inequity persist even in our own space, publicly reject all forms of racism and commit to creating a safe, nurturing environment in which all people are treated with dignity and respect.
It is with a sense of urgency that we renew our resolve to take action. We will use our voices, privilege and resources to challenge racism, discrimination, xenophobia and injustice in all its forms, and to actively build a more just, inclusive and equitable workspace and society. We also commit to uphold children’s rights – to dignity, equality, non-discrimination, survival and development.
