Introduction

I am involved in student education through clinical supervision, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research supervision in mental health. I began my career as an occupational therapist working in hospitals across Cape Town and remain deeply committed to mental health within occupational therapy.

I hold a BSc in Occupational Therapy from University of the Western Cape, a Master of Occupational Therapy from Stellenbosch University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Addiction Care and Global Public Mental Health from University of Cape Town. My Master’s research explored students’ professional identity development, highlighting the central role of the occupational therapist in acute mental health settings.

My practice and scholarship are grounded in mental health, with research interests in acute mental health, addictions, and the experiences of clinicians. These interests are informed by my clinical supervision and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Alongside my clinical and educational work in mental health interventions, I have a growing interest in policy literacy, curriculum development, and ethics in health professions education, particularly as they relate to mental health practice and training.
