Mrs Tasneem Mohomed
My clinical practice and supervision have informed my research interests in mental health in children or child psychiatry. A particular area of interest is preschool children diagnosed with ASD. What originally sparked this interest was noting the service-delivery gap for young children who were diagnosed with autism and did not yet have or qualify for school admission and placement. This observation informed my Master’s study. A key finding was the lack of existing occupational therapy services across multiples levels for this population group and the need for collaboration between the Health and Education sectors to support their readiness and successful transition into the education system.
I am also interested in research that investigates how Muslim community leaders understand and accommodate people with disabilities and how this impacts their participation, as families in community-cantered occupations, especially within religion.
