Research Interests

  • Intervention for children with speech, language and literacy difficulties.
  • Application of psycholinguistic frameworks to assessment and intervention.
  • Development of speech, language and literacy assessments appropriate for use with South African populations.

My research focuses on typical and atypical speech, language and literacy acquisition. My interest is in speech and language development in the languages of Southern Africa, multilingualism and ways to support clinicians when working with families from a range of language and cultural backgrounds. I am an NRF-rated researcher who has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and 10 book chapters.
