Associate Professor Michal Harty

Associate Professor

I am a speech language pathologist with a special interest in providing early communication intervention for children with established disabilities and their families. The goal of my research is understanding the core elements of effective early communication interventions for children with established disabilities (including autism) and how we can adapt these interventions to improve their fit in low to middle income contexts. I frequently use frameworks from implementation science to achieve this. I am particularly interested in stakeholder views on feasibility, appropriateness and acceptability of interventions. I have used single case research, qualitative focus group and quasi-experimental group designs to explore elements of feasibility for both individual parent and/or therapist implemented NDBIs, as well as group-based parent education and training.
