Dr Lucretia Petersen

Senior Lecturer, Audiology

Head of Division:  Communication Sciences and Disorders

My research interests lie in contextually relevant audiology tools, their validity and reliability, ototoxicity and otoacoustic emissions. My areas of interest are underpinned by my wish to transform the audiology profession to be more inclusive, and relevant to the populations we serve. My PhD investigated distortion product otoacoustic emissions towards reliable and valid early identification and monitoring of hearing in adults receiving ototoxic medication. One significant finding from this study was that the stimulus parameters used routinely in the clinic are not necessarily based on the best evidence available. It is important for the Audiology field to critically interrogate all, if not most of our current way of doing. I supervise a range of undergraduate and postgraduate Audiology research; these are mainly quantitative studies.
