Mr Iesrafeel Abbas
My research interests lie within Mental Health (MH), more specifically mental illness, psychotic disorders, student mental health, work practice, student support and curriculum development. Although there has been an increase in mental health research within occupational therapy, this is still an under-researched area, and therefore a key focus of my scholarship.
My Master’s’ research afforded me the opportunity to adapt the Model of Occupational Self-Efficacy for individuals with Schizophrenia who were returning to work. This enabled all participants to successfully integrate into their worker roles. I am currently a PhD candidate investigating the effectiveness of student support services in providing holistic student support to students with mental illness. I supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of topics concerned with the enhanced functioning of individuals with mental illness, including student support and curriculum development.
