Introduction
Fadia Gamieldien is currently a PhD fellow. She holds an MSc Occupational Therapy degree (UCT-2015) and a BSc Occupational Therapy degree (UCT-1996). She is a senior clinical educator in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Division of Occupational Therapy (2008-present). Between 1997-2007 Fadia was employed in a range of mental health services within the Department of Health: Western Cape Province. She worked as a clinician in a tertiary psychiatric hospital and a senior occupational therapist on a community mental health team. After that, she joined the Western Cape Provincial Office, where she was employed as an Assistant Director in the Directorate: Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Her last job with the Department of Health was as the Occupational Therapy Department Head at a tertiary institution for adults with intellectual disabilities. She has actively engaged in public mental health service delivery projects focusing on intersectoral collaboration, health innovation, and social engagement. She is passionate about mental health service users' contribution toward a collective understanding of personal recovery and occupational engagement and how this can contribute to curriculum and service redesign.
