Introduction

My research explores the intersections of human occupation, disability, violence, employment, health inequities and social justice, with a focus on how social, institutional and historical structures shape opportunities for participation and wellbeing. My scholarship is informed by African and Global South perspectives, including Ubuntu, Indigenous knowledge systems and Critical-Decolonial approaches to health and occupation. My current research interests include employment and occupational transitions for people with disabilities; occupational perspectives of violence and healing; technology-facilitated gender-based violence among women with disabilities; Indigenous birthing knowledge and inclusive health systems; Across these areas, I am interested in research approaches that challenge exclusionary systems, centre lived experience, and contribute to more equitable and contextually relevant practice, education and policy.
