Professor Harsha Kathard

Professor Communication Sciences and Disorders. Research director: Inclusive Practices Africa Research Unit

I qualified as a speech therapist and completed my PhD in education. I believe that as educators and practitioners, we need to critically reflect on our pedagogy as speech therapists towards achieving innovative and equitable practices. I am interested in creating new knowledge and creating tools for us to critically reflect on the changes needed in CSD. I am also interested in transdisciplinary research, more specifically identifying the critical change processes needed to transform practices, and the central role of health sciences education therein. In short, my research asks:
-     What new knowledge and teaching is needed to help us practice differently?
-    How do we implement what we know to impact practice (evidence-based solutions)?
