HeFSSA Travel Award

HeFSSA has established an annual “HeFSSA Travel Award”. This award will hopefully help enhance local expertise and interest in heart failure in South Africa. We hope that knowledge gained will be shared through appropriate channels with local colleagues.
Every year, 2 awards will be made. This award is open to cardiologists, cardiology fellows, postgraduate students or physicians with a special interest in heart failure who are citizens (or permanent residents) of South Africa. The applicant’s annual SA Heart Association and HeFSSA’s membership fees must be currently paid. The accredited congress/educational program must be focused on heart failure.
The maximum value of each award will be R30,000 (Thirty Thousand Rand) and can be utilised towards airfare (economy class), registration, and accommodation. Grants of smaller values will be considered. A successful recipient of the award may not apply again until after 2 years.
The successful recipient is liable to make all payment (registration, accommodation and airfares) in advance, and claim back from HeFSSA through submission of proof of payment (with receipts). A recipient will be refunded immediately on receipt of sufficient proof of payment (of pre-approved expenses). The recipient of the award will also be expected to submit a brief report, which will be circulated via the HeFSSA newsletter.
