NISH hosts the first Research stay in 2023
In July 2023 NISH hosted 2 participants for our first “Research stay” based at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The participants were Dr Marie-Claire Endegue, and Dr Naziru Tanko Mohammed.

The 2nd Annual Vaccinology Course for NITAGs (AVCN) was held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 3 – 7 July 2023. Overall, this 2nd offering of the AVCN welcomed 45 participants.
NISH joins partners to co-facilitate two training workshops for the EMRO NITAGs
In June 2023 NISH join partners support NITAG training for countries in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. Two separate training workshops were held on either side of the GNN (Global NITAG Network) meeting.

The WHO invited the Taskforce for Global Health (TFGH), the US Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (US CDC) and the NITAG Support Hub (NISH) to facilitate a 5-day NITAG workshop at the Protea Hotel, in Windhoek, Namibia.

Call for applications: Research stays 2023
Members of NITAGs in the WHO Africa Region can now apply for the first intake for the bi-annual, in-person research stay at the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa in 2023. Stays for up to one month can be arranged.
First Vaccinology Training for NITAGs welcomes five African countries
The inaugural NISH Vaccinology Training for NITAGs took place from 25th to 29th July 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa. 34 NITAG members from Kenya, Angola, Niger, Sierra Leone and Madagascar attended the training.

Wellcome to fund establishment of African NITAG Support Hub at UCT
The Vaccines for Africa Initiative (VACFA) at the University of Cape Town received a grant from Wellcome Trust to establish a regional support hub for National Immunisation Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) in the WHO Afria Region.
