Austerity cuts have placed increasing pressure on health care services raising concerns about the potential impact on child health. In response, the Child Health Priorities Association published a Call to Action – drawing on strong science, economic and rights based arguments to advocate for the protection and prioritisation of child health services in times of austerity. The call was widely supported by major child advocacy organisations, academic and paediatric departments at South African universities and many health professionals.
