Article of the Year Award
Congratulations to Associate Professor Francois Cilliers, responsible for the Assessment, Curriculum Development and Educational Research functions of the Education Development Unit (EDU) for being one of the co-authors of the IJAD's Article of the Year Award.
The Editorial Team for the International Journal for Academic Development (IJAD) has recently introduced an Article of the Year Award, and we are presenting this award for the first time for the best article published in IJAD in 2013. The award has been chosen by a selection committee composed of members of IJAD's Editorial Board, from four different continents. I am pleased to announce that the selection committee has chosen the following article as IJAD's Article of the Year for 2013:
"Journeys of growth towards the professional learning of academics: understanding the role of educational development," by Susan van Schalkwyk, Francois Cilliers, Hanelie Adendorff, Karin Cattell, & Nicoline Herman.
The IJAD Article of the Year 2013 is the article that the committee judged to have best met IJAD’s aims to "enable academic/educational developers in higher education across the world to exchange ideas about practice and extend the theory of educational development, with the goal of improving the quality of higher education internationally.”
This article also showed excellence in style, form, clarity and readability. The judges particularly appreciated the theorising of concepts central to many academic developers' practice and research (such as the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning), and the potential adaptability of the framework the authors presented.
Congratulations on being the inaugural recipients of IJAD's Article of the Year Award.
