In September 2024, the EDU initiated a collaborative project with a consulting software developer to create an academic support mobile application for early-year students in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The project was conceptualised to address the challenges students face during the transition from high school to university by providing tools to bridge gaps in academic preparedness. Additionally, the app will dynamically adapt learning materials into digestible formats which are specific to the needs of early year health science students. Thus, making academic content easier to understand and consume for students with diverse learning needs. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance accessibility, foster academic success, and support students in navigating the complexities of university life effectively. The Nyukela mobile application is currently in the alpha testing phase. Please contact nastassia.timothy@uct.ac.za if you are interested in mobile application testing.
