A Prospective Epidemiological Study of TB Disease and TB Infection in Adolescents in the Worcester and Surrounding Areas, Western Cape Province, South Africa. | Compare the T-cell cytokine profile induced by novel latency associated and highly recognized Mtb proteins in 2 groups. The differences will be measured in T-cells obtained from blood stimulated for a short or long period. Immune proteins such as IFN-g, IL2 and TNFα will be measured either inside the cell by intracellular cytokine staining and multi-parameter flow cytometry. The immune proteins released by the cells will be measured by ELISA. | Machingaidze et al. Am J Respir Crit Care Med. 2012 - Mahomed et al. PLoS One. 2011 Mahomed et al. Int J Tuberc Lung Dis. 2011 |
