Dr Yves Mongbo
Dr. Mongbo has a Doctorate in Medicine, a master’s degree in public health, an Interuniversity Diploma in Epidemiology and Vaccinology, and ongoing PhD research in elderly health, with 30 years of experience, including 16 years in international roles at the West African Health Organisation (WAHO).
After 14 years of medical practice in his home country, Benin, Dr. Mongbo joined WAHO in 2009 as Professional Officer in charge of maternal and child health. Since 2010 he started working in close collaboration with Agence de Médecine Préventive (AMP) and WHO AFRO (in 2015) to establish and strengthen the National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). To date all the countries of ECOWAS have NITAGs at various level of functionality and maturity. He continues to provide support to these NITAGs.
While continuing to support the Ministries of Health of ECOWAS Members States, Dr Mongbo’s work also include leading activities aimed at improving the health of adolescents and young people, developing vaccinology expertise in Africa through the vaccinology course at the Institut Supérieur des Sciences de la Santé of University Nazi Boni of Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso, mainly for francophone countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Dr Mongbo provided inputs to the NISH proposal to Wellcome Trust give and now is being a member of Management Board of the NISH Project in replacement of Pr. Sombie.
