Marthe Penka

PhD candidate

Penka is a bilingual French/English researcher and jurist with a master’s in International Law and a Rachel DesRosier fellowship under IDRC. She is currently pursuing a PhD with VACFA at the University of Cape Town, School of Public Health.

For 4 years, she served as a research project coordinator and lead evidence broker at eBASE Africa, and as vice chair of the GIN Africa community for 2 years. She has expertise in systematic reviews, fieldwork, and stakeholder engagement; especially with policymakers, practitioners, and underserved, non-digital, and indigenous communities.

Penka has supported research and translated EIDM resources across English and French for GIN Public, Africa Evidence Network, Cochrane, and McMaster University under the COVID-19 RecMap Project.

She is an award-winning storyteller who co-developed the storytelling systematic framework at eBASE Africa.
