Miss Michelle Jimenez

Senior Policy Manager

Michelle has an MSc in Nutrition (McGill University) and joined Gavi in 2022, where she has been leading the project management of the Vaccine Investment Strategy 2024 – Gavi’s prioritisation process to evaluate vaccines and immunisation products for possible inclusion into the future portfolio. She is also responsible for Gavi’s engagement with SAGE and contributes to the review of Gavi’s funding policies. Prior to joining Gavi, Michelle worked in UNICEF’s Country Office in Peru where she coordinated and managed a varied portfolio of health programmes in adolescent health, maternal and neonatal health, WASH, nutrition and early childhood development. She led the development of proposals that secured funding and led the design and implementation of training courses for health personnel.

Previously, Michelle worked as an independent consultant for PAHO, UNICEF, WHO, World Bank, and national research institutions. She spent over 8 years working for Wellcome and was responsible for the development, implementation and timely delivery of strategic funding activities and initiatives related to population and public health. She started her career working for Global Affairs Canada and has carried out field work in humanitarian contexts such as Afghanistan and North Korea.
