Nematode worms the length of this "!" exclamation point come in more guises than we realise. They rage in human guts and the innards of mice and rats or even fish and have even been found for the first time as deep as 1.3km underground in the Orange Free State.
The worms featured in this work include Nippostrongylus brasiliensis, Syphacia obvelata and Anisakis pegreffi and were used in the Division of Immunology to study the role of host immune responses to nematodes, The images where taken using a Nikon light microscope and digital camera at varying magnifications. The colour of each image was altered to a create "pop art" collage.
