Dr Rose N. Oronje
Dr Rose N. Oronje earned her PhD from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. She also has a Master's degree in Communications from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor's degree in Information Science from Moi University, Kenya.
Dr Oronje is the Director of Public Policy & Knowledge Translation and Head of the Kenya office at the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP). At AFIDEP, she provides strategic leadership in the design and conduct of research on policy analysis, political economy analysis, and knowledge translation; and design and delivery of capacity development interventions aimed at enabling EIDM as well as knowledge translation and policy engagement interventions aimed at supporting evidence uptake in decision-making. Prior to joining AFIDEP, she headed the policy engagement and communications unit at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) from 2004–2009.
Dr Oronje is a development policy and health systems researcher with over 15 years' experience in evidence-to-policy communications and health systems research. She has a strong background in communication and policy analysis research (qualitative) and extensive experience in designing and delivering capacity-building multi-country, multi-partners programmes in knowledge translation, rapid synthesis of evidence, and research utilisation with African ministries of health, parliaments and parliamentary networks, universities, research consortia and networks, and media.
