Welcome to new staff member Stephen Jermy
Welcome to Stephen Jermy who has been appointed as a Junior Research Fellow working at CUBIC UCT (www.cubic.uct.ac.za) where he manages as well as performs data analysis on several cardiac MRI projects. Stephen did his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCT. He completed his MSc Med in Biomedical Engineering in 2015; the project involved developing and implementing algorithms to postprocess velocity encoded phase contrast MRA images to remove flow related artefacts. This was part of a larger project centred around imaging blood flow in arteriovenous shunts in patients with kidney disease.
Stephen started working for CUBIC at the end of 2015 in the Division of Cardiology, but as of the beginning of this year he is once again in the Division of Biomedical Engineering. He has recently started his PhD which involves developing a free-breathing cardiac DTI sequence.
He usually spends his free time playing computer games or watching movies. He enjoys squash and has been known to venture into the outdoors and socialise on the odd occasion.
