Medical Devices Lab's ZibiPen scoops International Medtech Award
The reloadable adrenaline auto injector 'ZibiPen' developed by the Medical Devices Lab of the Division of Biomedical Engineering secures 2nd place in the Emerging Medical Innovation Valuation Competition of the Design of Medical Devices Conference in Minneapolis, MN, USA. The people behind the invention are Gokul Nair, Prof Sudesh Sivarasu and Prof. Mike Levin and the technology is currently being commercialised by Gokul Nair and Giancarlo Beukes through through 'Impulse Biomedicals', a UCT medical device startup.
