Dr Slater qualified MBChB at UCT and later specialised in radiation oncology. His primary clinical interest has been in palliative care. He has a special interest in medical education and is a course convenor in the Integrated Health Systems course of the 2^nd year MBChB programme. He teaches mostly clinical anatomy.
