A reflection on health and human rights
As we reflect on Human Rights' Day celebrated on 21 March, we highlight some of our students’ work on public health and human rights undertaken in the School of Public Health and Family Medicine’s Health and Human Rights course on the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme. This work provides insight into the lived experiences of some of the most vulnerable members of our society. This includes the self-documented experiences of homeless persons on the street during COVID-19, a video of the struggles of Cape Town communities during lockdown, a student’s work on equitable access to health technologies such as vaccines, a thesis examining whether occupational and environmental health is included as part of the Right to Health, and a post-doctoral student’s work on community engagement and participation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
