The Academic Ranking of the World's Universities has released its latest rankings in Public Health, and it's exciting to see UCT ranked in the range 50-75.

As in years past, UCT is the highest ranked South African university and the highest ranked African university in the Public Health category. With several hundred institutions included, we remain in the top tier of public health programmes globally. This positioning in consistent with other ranking systems, including the Times Higher Education World University Rankings which places UCT’s Faculty of Health Sciences at #72, and the US News and World Reports Global Universities rankings, which places at UCT Public Health at #71. In both cases UCT is the highest ranked South African and African institution.

While the methods for and value of ranking academic institutions in general is highly debatable, these results speak clearly to the traditions of excellence in teaching, research and service throughout our School of Public Health & Family Medicine.

Well done!
