Our Unit strives to provide transformative learning experiences for our undergraduate students.  We focus on the whole patient, not only their physical pathology, and we emphasize societal factors which impact on them.  It is run by qualified health professions educators who guide the development of curricula, teaching methods and assessments.  We use a student-centred approach in our educational offering.

• To create and maintain an enabling learning and teaching environment
• Ensuring that relevant, effective, safe and evidence-based core learning topics are identified as part of teaching and learning programme
• To ensure fair and transparent assessment practices
• Develop skills knowledge and attitude needed in our graduates to be responsive and compassionate care providers in South African Health Care context of women’s and perinatal health
