Referral Criteria

Investigations before referral

Post menopausal bleeding with ET>4mm

 

Pelvic USS - ET

Endometrial biopsy if >40yrs (benign)

Persistent post menopausal bleeding with ET<4mm

 

Abnormal uterine bleeding with USS suggestive of an endometrial polyp or submucous fibroid

 

Secondary amenorrhoea with suspected Ashermans syndrome

 

Normal hormonal profile and Pelvic USS

Recurrent pregnancy loss with suspected uterine anomaly (ideally referred from Reproductive failure clinic)

 

Work- up as per RFC

Lost IUCD strings

    • Persistent or worsening urinary symptoms after surgery for Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) – esp. if planning repeat surgery
    • Symptoms of voiding dysfunction after surgery for SUI
    • Before prolapse surgery if symptoms of voiding dysfunction or SUI
    • Before incontinence surgery in women with MUI with a large urge component
    • Patients with complicated urinary symptoms

  • Please send a brief letter describing the nature of the injury and the repair technique with the patient.
  • Referral Criteria:
    • All women who have sustained a third or fourth degree vaginal tear
    • Any woman with severe perineal trauma where there are concerns regarding healing
    • Women with perineal pain following delivery
    • Post-partum voiding dysfunction and defaecatory dysfunction
    • Post-partum dyspareunia
    • Pregnant women who have a history of a third or fourth degree tears for advice regarding mode of delivery following clinical assessment and endo-anal ultrasound.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR PATIENT IS BOOKED INTO THIS CLINIC IF YOU DO AREPAIR OF A THIRD OR FOURTH DEGREE TEAR ON LABOUR WARD
