Gynaecology Outpatients
Patients must be referred from level one or level two health institutions with a referral letter. Women who require urgent attention should be sent to the Emergency Unit (C24), Groote Schuur Hospital) with a referral letter -. Women who require relatively urgent attention i.e. within one or two weeks should be discussed with the consultant or registrar on call for gynaecology by calling contact 021 404 4155/4111

Molar clinic
All women diagnosed with a molar pregnancy are followed up at this clinic. Bookings are made either via central booking system 021 404 6386 or contact ward F5 (021 404 4489) . This clinic is located in the Gynaecology Outpatient Clinic, K Floor, Room 78, Outpatient Building, Groote Schuur Hospital.

Colposcopy clinic (021 404 4489)
Referral Criteria
All women with an abnormal Pap smear according to the following criteria:
3 x ASCUS Pap smears 6 – 12 months apart
2 x LSIL smears 6 – 12 months apart
1 x ASC-H smear
1 x Atypical glandular cells (AGC) smear - from any source (Endometrium, cervix or ovary)
1 X HSIL smear
Any abnormal/suspicious looking cervix
Any high risk patient (HIV+, organ transplant or Immuno-supressant drugs) with pap smear > or equal to ASCUS pap smear
Clinically abnormal/concerning cervix
The clinic is located on the K Floor, Room 55, in the Outpatient Building Groote Schuur Hospital
Vulval clinic (conducted at the same clinic as the Colposcopy clinic, K Floor, Room 55, Outpatient Building)
Any woman with symptoms or a lesion on vulva that requires specialist attention
Women seen by appointment only for both the Colposcopy and the Vulval Clinic. For an appointment call 021 404 4489
Wednesday

Combined meeting with Pathologists, Radiation Oncologists and Gynaecological Oncology team during which the pathology of all women with gynaecological cancers are reviewed, evaluated and provisional treatment plan discussed. For review of a pathological specimen at this meeting contact Gynae Oncology Consultants or Fellow.

Combined Assessment Clinic (LE 33, Groote Schuur Hospital, 021 404 4261).
This clinic is by referral only via Gynaecology ward F5. If a patient has a confirmed or suspected gynaecological cancer either refer the patient via the Emergency Unit, Groote Schuur Hospital with a referral letter or contact the Gynaecology Oncology registrar via 021 – 404 3385 for an urgent admission to ward F5.
Women with gynaecological cancers are evaluated by the team consisting of the radiation oncologists and gynaecological oncologists. Each woman is evaluated holistically and in consultation with her, her family and the team, a management plan is designed and arrangements made from this clinic.

Monthly Paediatric Gynaecology Clinic at Red Cross Hospital (location)
Referral Criteria:
- Only cold cases are seen. Emergencies are seen in the Emergency Unit of RXH
- Cold cases can be discussed with Dr Nomonde Mbatani nomonde.mbatani@uct.ac.za
- All paediatric and adolescent gynaecology related problems will be accepted into the clinic with an appropriate referral letter. Bookings made by contacting Red Cross Memorial Booking Office: 021- 658 5386
- Patients should be less than 13 years of age. Any patient who is 13 years and older, should be referred to Groote Schuur Hospital Gynaecology Outpatients or to the appropriate Primary Health Care Clinic

Women requiring chemotherapy for a gynaecological cancer are treated and followed up at this clinic. This clinic only accepts patients referred via the Combined Assessment Clinic as described above.

Radiation Oncology follow-up Clinic (LE 33, Groote Schuur Hospital, 021 404 4261) [Wednesday and Thursday - contact 021 404 4261 and discuss with Radiation Oncologist
