Sub-specialist application and appointment process

Requirements before applying:

• The candidate must have an Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist qualification equivalent to the College of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) FCOG [or FCS (Urology) in the case of Urology applicant  for Urogynaecology subspecialty training only
• The candidate should qualify for registration with the Health professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) /for non-SA trainees registration for practise in SA is essential
• The candidate will be responsible for arranging their own funding
• Certificates in Reproductive Medicine, Urogynaecology or gynaecology Oncology: The candidate must be able and willing to do level 2 specialist afterhours calls in Obstetrics and Gynaecology level 3 – the number of afterhours calls will be dependent on the nature of the funding
• For certificate in Maternal Fetal Medicine, after hours calls will be done in Level 3 Obstetrics only (at GSH Maternity Centre) Gynaecology calls will depend on funding.
• The selection process is a competitive one, additional courses and training in the sub-specialist field is encouraged and will be taken into consideration

• Submit expression of interest:
  • Detailed CV
  • Passport
  • Copy of qualifications
  • Full details of how you will be funded for the two years of study
  • Names, contact details and email addresses of 3 referees who have worked with you in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
