A consultation is a conversation about your writing. You bring a piece you're working on, at any stage, and talk it through with a trained consultant who listens, asks questions, and helps you find your own way forward. We're not here to edit or proofread; we're here to help you grow as a writer.
What to expect
You set the agenda You decide what to work on. The session follows your questions and priorities, not ours.
A dialogue, not an edit We read and think alongside you. We won't correct or rewrite your work, the writing stays yours.
We ask, not fix Expect questions that help you clarify your thinking, structure and argument.
Strategies to keep You leave with approaches you can use again, not just changes to one document.
Who can come
Consultations are free and open to all FHS students and staff, at any stage — from task analysis and planning, through drafting, to final polishing. What you work on stays between you and your consultant; we don't report back to supervisors.
