Postgraduate writers working together at an FHS Writing Lab writing space

Research Writing Spaces

Research writing is more than a technical skill, it's how you develop your scholarly identity and voice within your discipline. Our Writing Spaces support that process through structured, collaborative and reflective practice.

Three ways to write with us. Join whichever fits where you are right now. You're welcome in all of them.

1

MS Teams Writing Group

A running space for weekly research, reading and writing tips and guides, a place to stay connected between sessions.

2

Shut Up & Write

Weekly, hosted by Taahira. Working from the Pomodoro technique, we write in short protective bursts of 30–40 minutes (×2–3) and get some writing or reading done together.

3

Writers' Circles

A collaborative space to share your writing and receive constructive feedback, a chance to clarify your thinking and the arguments you're making.

These spaces offer more than protected time. They're where you navigate the challenge and discomfort of writing, and build confidence as a disciplinary writer, informed by our ongoing research into postgraduate academic literacies, authorial voice and identity development in the health sciences.  Read our Scholarship & Research →
