Dr Papavarnavas is a specialist physician and the co-convenor for 4th year MBChB programme. He is an Infectious Diseases Consultant in the Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine, and the lead Infection Prevention and Control clinician at Groote Schuur Hospital, University of Cape Town. He also has an interest in travel medicine and is the director of the Cape Town GeoSentinel Travel Surveillance Network Site.
