Dr Dharshnee Chetty
Dr Dharshnee Rama Chetty is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Anatomical Pathology at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and a Principal Pathologist with the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), based at Groote Schuur Hospital and Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. She earned her MBChB from the University of the Witwatersrand (2004), completed the FC Path (SA) in Anatomical Pathology at UCT (2015), and obtained an MMed (Anatomical Pathology) with distinction (2018).
In her clinical role, Dr Chetty provides diagnostic histopathology and cytopathology services supporting multidisciplinary decision‑making in oncology. She leads the breast cancer, lymphoma and soft tissue multidisciplinary meetings. As an educator, she contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assessment, serving as an internal examiner at UCT since 2013 and an external examiner for the University of the Witwatersrand since 2021.
Dr Chetty supervises MMed trainees and co‑supervises PhD candidates, with completed MSc, MMed and PhD projects to date. Her collaborative research spans anatomical pathology and allied disciplines; she has contributed as lead anatomical pathologist on grant‑supported studies and has published in peer‑reviewed journals.
