Cheers to our September graduates!
We celebrate not one, but two team members at this year’s Health Science graduation.
On the 3rd of September 2024, the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town held their graduation ceremony at the Sarah Baartman Hall.
Among the outstanding PhD graduates was our very own Louvina van der Laan, who joined our team in 2018.
Louvina is a medical doctor who now holds a PhD in pharmacometrics, and we are honoured to be a part of her academic journey and watch her right to the end!
She graduates with a degree of Doctor of Philosophy for her thesis entitled: Population pharmacokinetic modelling to optimize treatment for children with rifampicin-resistant TB and HIV.
We also commend our MPhil graduate, Jennie van Dyk.
She joined our group in 2023, conducting her thesis in optimising gentamicin doses in puppies with parvoviral enteritis using population pharmacokinetics. She has since joined our team of PhD candidates, and we are all excited for her next academic chapter.
She graduates with a degree of Master in Philosophy of Clinical Pharmacology with distinction. A super achievement!
