Advancing Malaria Prevention: PDMC Consortium Trials Update in Malawi

Last week, Roeland visited Zomba, Malawi, to discuss the progress and results of multiple trials investigating post-discharge malaria chemoprophylaxis (PDMC) within the PDMC consortium.
Our team is actively involved in three of these trials: CHEMCHA, PDMC-II, and the newly planned PDMC-SAM. During the visit, the results of the CHEMCHA trial were shared with local policymakers, highlighting key findings that could inform future malaria prevention strategies. Discussions on PDMC-II focused on trial progress and ongoing data collection. Additionally, the visit provided an opportunity to refine the design of PDMC-SAM, a new study aimed at evaluating chemoprophylaxis in children with severe acute malnutrition.
These collaborative discussions are crucial in advancing evidence-based interventions for vulnerable paediatric populations.
